AR Rahman Kolkata Concert Update: Fans in Kolkata were ready to vibe, sing, and cry to timeless melodies… and then boom. Plans changed. The much-awaited Kolkata stop of The Wonderment Tour by Oscar-winning maestro AR Rahman has now been postponed indefinitely. Yes, the wait just got longer, and music lovers are collectively sighing.

Kolkata show put on hold (again)

The concert, which was earlier shifted to April 11, will now happen “at a later date,” according to organisers. In a statement shared on Instagram, Rhythm Box India thanked fans for their excitement and promised updates soon.

They said scheduling issues led to the delay, but reassured everyone that the tour ‘will’ come to the city eventually.

The message also confirmed that ticket refunds will be processed through District, and details will reach ticket holders directly via email. So, no panic clicking required. Just keep an eye on your inbox.

Elections season changes the tune

This sudden pause is not happening in isolation. West Bengal is preparing for its 2026 Legislative Assembly election, expected in April-May. The Assembly’s term ends on May 7, so the entire election process must finish before that.

Election Commission officials are scheduled to visit the state on March 2. If the SIR process is completed on time, election dates are likely to be announced in the first week of March.

With the political calendar heating up, big events like concerts often have to make space.

This concert was supposed to mark Rahman’s return to Kolkata after 13 long years. Fans had been waiting forever to experience his magic live again in the city.

The Wonderment Tour’s big comeback

The Wonderment Tour itself made a grand return to India in January 2026 with a Mumbai premiere. Since then, the 58-year-old legend has already performed in Tamil Nadu.

Even as Kolkata waits, Rahman’s calendar remains packed. He is going to perform across North America in July and August.

The tour has been envisioned in partnership with Rhythmbox, Fair Game Entertainment and Jo Entertainment.
